- Field-Swap 1/4 ↔ 5/16, No Teardown Thread 1/4" SAE female to system port, open lower ball, back out capture rod to grab core, close lower valve, check sight glass, retract rod, close upper valve, swap core, reverse. For mini-split 5/16" port screw bundled adapter onto the 1/4" female — no extra trip to the truck. Critical: this is a 1/4" SAE VCRT + 5/16" SAE adapter, not an auto R-134a quick-connect; auto shops still need the auto adapter kit separately.
