Different varieties of jasper were known to many ancient civilizations, including the Persians, Hebrews, Greeks, Romans, and Arabs. This stone was an important material for Minoan artisans on the Greek island of Crete, who left a rich archeological legacy of jasper artifacts. This is a volcanic stone that takes different colors and patterns depending on the mineral content of the original sediment and the manner in which the lava cools. This variety of jasper is yellow in color with possible brown streaks. Yellow Jasper is commonly associated with the solar plexus chakra.
